Woman steals ambulance after being taken to the hospital by police after being arrested for drunk driving and a hit and run. Apparently she was trying to find her ex-boyfriend. I won’t spoil it for you, but her quote at the end is pretty priceless.

This time last decade I was 16, in my first year of college, still living with my parents in rural Ohio, and dating an insane Venezuelan. Now I am 26, in my last year of law school, living with Kate in Brooklyn, and dating someone who is decidedly neither insane nor Venezuelan.

“The assignment…is to have a great weekend!” I said, smiling now as the groans quickly transformed into a wave of cheers. “Now get out of here!”

For the most part, all of my students did particularly well on that assigment and were awarded “A’s” - except for Margaret, who was given an ”F” after she told me about how her parents got divorced over the weekend.

NY Mag has a slide show of the "Short-lived trends of the 00s":

“Decade in Review” time is in full swing, as seen in this NY mag slide show of 00 fashion. However, I don’t think this slideshow does justice to the ugly of the last decade. Here are the most incomprehensible trends to me:

low rise jeans, seen modeled here by Tara Reid. I remember these being all the rage back in college in the early part of the 00s, which is strange because they look good on absolutely no one. Basically if you have any curves at all, these give you muffin top, and if you’re skinny enough to not have that issue, they just emphasize your gaping hip bones.

Leggings/tights as pants. A cautionary tale: I remember going to a performance my first year of law school where the (beautiful, talented) hostess was wearing an upper-hip length tunic over tights on a stage about 4 ft. above the audience. After writing and rewriting this sentence several times, I can’t think of a polite way to phrase this, so here you have it: everyone in the front row or two could make out her labia. Lesson? Don’t let this happen to you.
Hipster glasses. I know that, in theory, wearing these glasses makes you look super badass, like you don’t care how stupid they make you look, but, in reality, they make you look like a retarded person. Not, like, in some figurative sense, but in a person-living-with-mental-disabilities kind of way.
Size zeros. Other people have written a lot better than I could about this, so I’m not going to try, other than by pointing out this model:
I went through the decade without wearing Uggs or Crocs, but they didn’t bring out the ire in me that they seemed to provoke for others.

JWOWW (from Jersey Shore, if you’re not watching for some reason) is one enterprising lady: her website (http://www.jwoww.com) offers diet and plastic surgery endorsements, JWOWW promotional appearances, pictures of herself on a motorcycle in bikinis, and even a clothing line COMING SOON! (Will you need giant implants to fit into her tops? Or will they be scaled down for ladies of less than J-WOWW proportions? God I hope so). I admire her moxie.
